Karin Zucker

Karin Zucker, JD, LLM, FAALM

Director

Karin Waugh Zucker is a Professor of Health Care Administration, Baylor University, and a Consultant in Bioethics to Brooke Army Medical Center. She teaches, or has taught, Healthcare Law, Managed Care Law, Healthcare Contracting, Health Politics and Policy, Negotiations, International Health, Human Resources Management, and Ethics –Introduction to Medical Ethics, Clinical Ethics, Organizational Ethics, the Law and Ethics of War and Terrorism, Medical Ethics in Film, The Book Club, i.e., modern readings in ethics, and Ethics in the Era of the Holocaust –The Rise of Hitler: How and Why; The Holocaust: Experiments and Mass Murder; and Supererogatory Acts.

Among her assignments while on active duty with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, US Army, were tours as the Command Judge Advocate for the US Army Medical Command Europe (7th Medical Command), Heidelberg, Germany, and as the Legal Counsel for the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) and the Collaborative Center for the Investigation of AIDS, both in Washington, DC. While in the Army, she also held academic appointments at the University of Maryland, the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston, Texas, Wesleyan University, and Tulane University. She is now a Department of the Army civilian employee with the Army – Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration at the Army Medical Department Center and School. She has lectured widely on legal medicine and bioethics and, from 2007 – 2014, was a member of the faculty of the European Summer University on Medical Ethics and Law in Toulouse, France.
